– Young at Heart ULO CIC
Here’s an extract from our nomination, submitted by Wendy Osman on behalf of The Lodge Carers:

The Lodge Carers, a diverse group of current and former unpaid carers, meet up for a cuppa and a chat for a couple of hours each week in the Cafe at Stanstead Lodge, a welcoming community venue within the London Borough of Lewisham.
We provide invaluable peer support to each other, and proactively look to support the wider caring community. Each individual carer brings something unique ‘to the table’ and is keen to help reduce social isolation amongst those with caring responsibilities.
Our amazing group of carers exude resilience, hope and positivity and, due to the success of The Lodge Carers, one member supported by her peers and facilitated by Dave King, Director of the charity Brighter Horizons, recently opened a second carer peer support group called SIPS, in Sydenham; enabling even more local carers to get together, in person and on zoom, with events
already planned.
Thanks to all supporters of ‘The Lodge Carers’ in Stanstead Road, Forest Hill, and ‘SIPS’ (Sydenham Ignition Peer Support) for carers …. and to Wendy for shining a light on some of the terrific peer support, led by carers for carers, in the London Borough of Lewisham.
The awards ceremony will be on Thursday 16 October 2025 at Plaisterers Hall, London.
